Nov. 20th, 2008 -- Via Press Release: Dorney Park is announcing a new state-of-the-art theatre and unprecedented live entertainment show for 2009. After two consecutive years of major capital investment in Wildwater Kingdom and the debut of the first suspended linear induction coaster in the Northeast last summer, the Allentown Park is focusing on children and families with the introduction of the Good Time Theatre. This new facility will host its first guests this upcoming 2009 summer for the premiere of “Snoopy Rocks on Ice,” an amazing show starring everyone’s favorite beagle, Snoopy!
At over five million dollars the Good Time Theatre and “Snoopy Rocks on Ice” represent the largest investment in theatrical live entertainment in the history of Dorney Park. Jason McClure, Dorney Park's Vice President and General Manager adds that Dorney Park “has never before aspired to this caliber of live entertainment venue or production. This is a new and unique product designed to entertain all guests; it is a perfect enhancement to round out our product offering.”
The more than 18,000 square-foot, multi-purpose, air-conditioned, 600 seat facility is expected to be completed and opened for the premiere show sometime in June 2009 and features a 60-foot-wide by 35-foot-deep ice stage and state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems. The theater, slated for construction this off-season, will be located just to the left of the main plaza and conveniently accessible via two newly improved and landscaped entrance midways on either side of Dorney Park’s largest souvenir and gift shop.
“Snoopy Rocks on Ice” is planned as the first production to take the stage at the Good Time Theatre and features skating routines, familiar music and the fun and excitement of a Snoopy celebration! With multiple show times, six days a week, guests of Dorney Park will have plenty of opportunity to tap their toes and watch in wonder as Snoopy, along with a cast of over one dozen world-class skaters star in this all-new ice skating show. In-park access to the venue and the show is complimentary with any park admission.
Dorney Park amusement park opens for its 125th Anniversary season on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from May 2 to May 22, 2009. Dorney Park amusement park and Wildwater Kingdom waterpark are both open daily beginning Saturday, May 23 through Labor Day, September 7, 2009. The new Good Time Theatre and “Snoopy Rocks on Ice” are planned to open to the public in June ’09 with the show slated to run through Labor Day.
