News: The Gravity Group announces new trains

Posted at 1:53 AM EST (0653 GMT)

Nov. 19th, 2008 -- The Gravity Group announced Nov. 18 new single-bench, articulated trains for a smoother ride and lower maintenance.

The Timberliner trains are capable of magnetic braking and a launch. The trains are compatible with existing coasters, so parks can easily upgrade their rides.

The trains feature shock absorption and are ergonomic. The restraints are designed for more efficient capacity, and the trains are capable of having an on-board sound system installed.

The Gravity Group says the trains will be available for the 2009 season.

GCII style I see. And it caters to the popular sound enhanced re-themeing,

Way to rip off GCI. I read another press statement where they kept bragging about how it was all "original" and "revolutionary" and whatnot.

Dukeis#1, I didn't see the word "original" or the word "revolutionary" in the press release. Where'd you see the other? They just say they've made trains that will handle their coasters better.

I hope Holiday World gets these for Voyage.

Dosen't really matter what trains you put on a coaster if it's rough to begin with...

GCI dosen't have anything to worry about- their coasters are engineered to near perfection and are as smooth as a Woody should be...

But if they don't have the millennium flyers on it, it is rough and has to be re-tracked constantly. See Gwazi.

The trains sound intresting. I wonder if we'll see them on a coaster anytime soon.

The PTC trains are of an aging design, and simply don't keep up with the demands of the newer wooden coasters.

Whoa wait a second. It says the new trains are capable of magnetic braking and a LAUNCH? Gravity Group is going to make launched wooden coasters? This might get interesting.

Hmmm..... I read that and didn't even give the launch part a second thought until you brought it up.

A launched wooden coaster would be amazing.

I noticed the statement about launch systems. Would be interesting to see a wood coaster use a launch system or maybe a launch hill.

AS for James and his Look at Boulderdash, apparently you have been living under a rock. Are you forgetting they have gone through 2 off seasons of retracking. That 2 trains were down last year do to damage. The park own 4 trains to operate on Boulderdash 2 on and 2 back ups. The trains work well on wildcat, but they aren't that great on Boulderdash. Especially with these new hallow seat dividers.

So will these trains also work on CCI coasters? Ghostrider would be swell with a set of these.

It's a good thing they don't let us talk about this in the threads, the conversation may have gotten too interesting.
